Uprising: Subverting the Airwaves

Rap Sessions is a national tour of panel discussions on race and hip-hop which is coming to Los Angeles. The dialogue aims to provide activist hip-hop youth with a forum to discuss issues of race and hip-hop in the hopes of encouraging community building. The multicultural panel will feature hip-hop intellectuals such as Oliver Wang, Ernie Paniccioli, Adam Mansbach, and Raquel Rivera. Bakari Kitwana, a hip-hop activist and author of Why White Kids Love Hip Hop: Wangstas, Wiggers, Wannabes, and the New Reality of Race in America, is the moderator. The Rap Sessions tour will continue tonight in Los Angeles on the campus of UCLA, at Schoenberg Hall, Popper Theater. The event will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
